User Account Password

In addition to the standard way of connecting to the remote computer with ISL AlwaysOn as described in the topics here, ISL AlwaysOn supports one more connection option.

Connection with user account password allows you to connect to the remote computer using the user account password of the remote machine.

Note: While user account password functionality is enabled it will override any other form of authentication (e.g. you can no longer use the main access password to connect to the remote computer).
Important: User account password functionality offers less security than other forms of authentication.

Connect with user account password

To enable User account password please follow the steps below:

Note: The example below demonstrates how to enable this password on a Windows device. The same functionality is available on macOS and Linux devices, where it is referred to as the Mac account password and Linux account password.

Step 1

Open ISL AlwaysOn. If you don't have ISL AlwaysOn already installed and configured please check our guide here. Enable "Windows account password" and click "Save".

Note: If the setting is not visible, please make sure you're using the latest version of ISL AlwaysOn.
If the setting is still not visible please reset your ISL AlwaysOn:
  • Open CMD as an admin
  • net stop isl_always_on
  • net start isl_always_on

Step 2

When you click on a computer with a Windows user password functionality enabled you will not be prompted for a password anymore. Click "Connect".

Step 3

ISL AlwaysOn will lock the remote computer and you will be connected to a session. You will need to enter the Windows password on the remote computer to begin using it.
