Improvements

ISL AlwaysOn - Desktop - Speedup generic clipboard (FEATURE) [ISLALWAYSON-2089] More

Description

Pasting files that are copied from a remote clipboard is now faster. Chunks of file data are requested in advance and served from a buffer instead of waiting for each chunk to be fetched one at a time, which noticeably reduces transfer time for large files on slower connections.

ISL AlwaysOn - Desktop - Pause generic clipboard on startup (FEATURE) [ISLALWAYSON-2090] More

Description

Clipboard monitoring on the shared computer now starts inactive and begins reporting clipboard changes only after the session connection is fully established. Content copied before that point is not transferred; the next copy is picked up normally.

ISL AlwaysOn - Desktop - Expand clipboard support with html, rich text, csv, XML Spreadsheet (FEATURE) [ISLALWAYSON-2092] More

Description

Clipboard sharing in a remote session now transfers more than plain text. Content copied from applications such as Excel, Word or a browser keeps its additional representations (HTML, rich text, CSV, XML Spreadsheet and Excel formats), and images copied from applications that only offer PNG or newer bitmap formats are now transferred as well. The extra formats are only fetched from the source application when the target application asks for them, and paste attempts are retried if another application temporarily holds the clipboard.

ISL AlwaysOn - Desktop - Call disconnect on stop_listening (DEFECT) [ISLALWAYSON-2091] More

Description

Users experienced an issue where stopping clipboard sharing could hang in some cases, when the helper process handling the clipboard was not running at that moment, leaving the clipboard connection open instead of closing it. The functionality was redesigned and the issue is no longer reproducible.

The defect was fixed.

ISL Light - Desktop - Notify ICP that the Windows client is WebAuthn capable (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-6197] More

Description

ISL Light on Windows now reports to the server that it supports WebAuthn-based two-factor authentication, so security key login can use WebAuthn when the server offers it.

ISL Light - Desktop - Add support for Wayland on Linux (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-6616] More

Description

Added support for screen sharing and remote control on Linux computers running a Wayland desktop session, including support for multiple monitors.

ISL Light - Desktop - Add multi monitor support for Wayland (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-6662] More

Description

Added support for multiple monitors when sharing the desktop on Linux with Wayland. Operators can now select and view each remote monitor separately.

ISL Light - Desktop - Add input support for Wayland (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-6737] More

Description

Keyboard input is now supported when controlling a remote Linux computer running a Wayland session, including characters that require multiple key presses or modifier keys.

ISL Light - Desktop - Add CTRL+ALT+END to generate SAS (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7529] More

Description

Added a keyboard shortcut for sending Ctrl + Alt + Del to the remote computer, since that combination is reserved by the local device. The shortcut can be changed under the shortcut settings, where shortcuts with multiple keys are now displayed and a warning is shown if the chosen combination is already used by another action.

ISL Light - Desktop - Add customizable shortcuts for certain features (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7537] More

Description

Added a configurable keyboard shortcut for Paste Typing (simulate typing), which pastes clipboard contents by simulating keystrokes on the remote computer. The default shortcut is Right Ctrl+Shift+V and it can be changed in the shortcut settings. The Tools menu item was renamed from "Paste" to "Paste Typing" and now shows the assigned shortcut.

ISL Light - Desktop - Split session code (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7562] More

Description

Session codes are now displayed and entered in groups of three digits to improve readability.

ISL Light - Desktop - Add feedback (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7573] More

Description

New menu items were added to the main window and dashboard menus: "Send Feedback" (available only on hosted service accounts), "What's New" and "Help & Manuals". Each item opens the corresponding page in the default web browser; when logged in on the hosted service, the feedback page keeps the user logged in. The items can be hidden with the command line argument --on-load "customization?disable_feedback=true".

ISL Light - Desktop - Redesign Start New Session (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7578] More

Description

The window shown while an operator waits for the client to join a session was redesigned. It now shows the waiting status and how long the session has been waiting in the status bar, allows editing the session name directly, and provides email invitation actions and settings from the same window.

ISL Light - Desktop - Add login dialog args supporting persistent login (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7602] More

Description

ISL Light now supports persistent login on the server side, so users can stay logged in between application starts. Two new command line arguments were added:

  • --skip-persistent-login, which disables persistent login for that run
  • --show-native-app-login, which requests the username and password login screen.

Persistent login is also automatically skipped when ISL Light is started with --username, --password or --web-login.

ISL Light - Desktop - Install ISL Light in Session (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7603] More

Description

Added an option to install ISL Light on the client computer during an active session. The operator can start it from Tools > Install ISL Light, and the client can start it from the ISL Light Client Settings menu. When the installation is started by the operator, the operator's customization is used; when started by the client, the client's customization is used. The menu item can be enabled or disabled through customization.

ISL Light - Desktop - Wayland improve multimonitor streaming (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7632] More

Description

Desktop sharing on Linux systems using Wayland was improved for setups with multiple monitors, reducing screen blinking, tearing and visual artifacts. On processors that support it, change detection between screen frames now uses AVX2 instructions, which lowers the processing cost of streaming.

ISL Light - Desktop - Pause generic clipboard on startup (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7634] More

Description

Clipboard monitoring on the shared computer now starts inactive and begins reporting clipboard changes only after the session connection is fully established. Content copied before that point is not transferred; the next copy is picked up normally.

ISL Light - Desktop - Expand clipboard support with html, rich text, csv, XML Spreadsheet (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7635] More

ISL Light - Desktop - Speedup generic clipboard (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7637] More

Description

Pasting files that are copied from a remote clipboard is now faster. Chunks of file data are requested in advance and served from a buffer instead of waiting for each chunk to be fetched one at a time, which noticeably reduces transfer time for large files on slower connections.

ISL Light - Desktop - Polish Wayland implementation (FEATURE) [ISLLIGHT-7638] More

Description

Screen sharing on Linux systems running Wayland was hardened. Frames that a compositor delivers with unexpected sizes or row padding are now handled correctly instead of being shown incorrectly or dropping the stream, and starting or stopping screen sharing no longer leaves the capture in a broken state when initialization fails.

ISL Light - Deskop - Supports-u2f-webauthn missing in one code path (DEFECT) [ISLLIGHT-7512] More

Description

In some login flows the application did not report support for security key (U2F/WebAuthn) two-factor authentication, which could prevent logging in with a security key. The login flow was unified so the capability is always reported.

The defect was fixed.

ISL Light - Desktop - Session code is not split when entered using numeric keypad (DEFECT) [ISLLIGHT-7567] More

Description

Users experienced an issue where the session code entered with the numeric keypad was not split into groups as it is when typed with the regular number keys.

The defect was fixed.

ISL Light - Desktop - Fix plugin channel assignment order (DEFECT) [ISLLIGHT-7604] More

Description

In some sessions the clipboard did not work correctly right after the remote desktop view was opened, because session components were initialized in an inconsistent order. The initialization order was made deterministic and clipboard now works from the start of the first desktop stream.

The defect was fixed.

ISL Light - Desktop - ISL Light Client is expanded after joining session when touch-pad cmdline is used (DEFECT) [ISLLIGHT-7606] More

Description

Users experienced an issue where the ISL Light Client window stayed larger than needed after joining a session when the touch pad command line option was used. The window sizing was corrected so the client shrinks to its normal session size.

The defect was fixed.

ISL Light - Desktop - Whiteboard tools shown on incorrect display to client AKA wayland (DEFECT) [ISLLIGHT-7607] More

Description

Whiteboard drawings and pointers made by the operator were shown on the wrong display on Linux computers running a Wayland session. Whiteboard tools are now disabled when the remote computer uses Wayland.

The defect was fixed.

ISL Light - Desktop - Don't send shortcut keys to remote (DEFECT) [ISLLIGHT-7608] More

Description

When an operator used a keyboard shortcut during a remote session, the keys that make up the shortcut were also sent to the remote computer, which could trigger unintended actions there. Shortcut keys are now handled locally only and are no longer forwarded to the remote side.

The defect was fixed.

ISL Light - Desktop - Incorrect control state shown when connecting to Wayland machine (DEFECT) [ISLLIGHT-7631] More

Description

When connecting to a Linux machine running Wayland, the session showed an incorrect remote control state, for example indicating that control was available when the remote user had only allowed screen sharing without input. The control state shown to the operator now reflects what the remote user actually granted, and clipboard sharing is disabled when input is not permitted.

The defect was fixed.

ISL Light - Desktop - Call disconnect on stop_listening (DEFECT) [ISLLIGHT-7633] More

Description

Users experienced an issue where stopping clipboard sharing could hang in some cases, when the helper process handling the clipboard was not running at that moment, leaving the clipboard connection open instead of closing it. The functionality was redesigned and the issue is no longer reproducible.

The defect was fixed.

ISL Light - Desktop - Linux Wayland Stability fixes ep. 2 (DEFECT) [ISLLIGHT-7636] More

Description

Users experienced instability when sharing their screen on Linux systems running Wayland, including sessions that could freeze or stop when the desktop compositor behaved unexpectedly. Keyboard input handling when controlling such a computer was also improved.

The defect was fixed.
