ISL Light 3.0.4 stable for win32 (2007-06-21)

General Information

On 21th June 2007 we have released:

ISL Desktop Sharing plugin 1.0.4 had a critical defect when starting command prompt on Windows Vista - so we released updated version 1.0.4a with this problem fixed.

Major improvements

Administrative Mode

Administrative mode in desktop sharing introduced support for sharing MS Windows XP/Vista lock screen, MS Windows Vista UAC dialogs and sending CTRL-ALT-DEL to remote computer. Administrative mode needs computer administrator's account or ISL Light Desk/ISL Light Client user need to know administrator's username and password to activate it.

Load logo image from URL

ISL Light Desk and ISL Light Client can now load logo image from URL location - so now can users dynamically change the logo even on hosted service bussiness model. Please check ISL Light Command Line Arguments for more info.

100% locale support

ISL Light Client and ISL Light Desk now present and accept correctly even Japanese and Chinese languages. The local keyboard support in desktop sharing mode was improved to allow support for local keyboard layout and IME. In addition to that 5 more languages were added for user interface translations (Bulgarian, Croatian, Serbian, Macedonian and Russian).

Full screen mode

ISL Desktop Sharing plugin now support full screen mode for viewing remote desktop with automatic scrolling in case screen resolution of remote side is bigger than local resolution.

Windows key shortcuts support

When working on remote desktop user can now use all the windows shortcuts available and they are interpreted on remote side.

File transfer dialog

Starting file transfer has been made easier on local and remote side by introducing file transfer dialog.

If you have downloaded full version of ISL Light Client and ISL Light Desk then please visit our official website www.isllight.com and download the newly released ISL Light Client 3.0.4 and ISL Light Desk 3.0.4.

Notice: if you are starting ISL Light service by clicking to the ISL Light Desk or ISL Light Client button at www.isllight.com page, there is no need to upgrade. The auto-upgrade-program, called by mouse click selects the latest version by default.  Manual downloading of the latest release is necessary only in case, when ISL Light executable is started from the custom selected location. In this instance the latest version of ISL Light Desk and ISL Light Client should be fetched and saved to the proper place.

Server License

Upgrades are free of charge for ISL Light Server License users with active Extended Support Service. ISL Light Server License users with expired Extended Support Service are welcome to purchase Extended Support Service in order to gain access to the newly released ISL Light 3.0.4. In case you have extended ESS you will need to create new license file and upload it to your ISL Conference Proxy server.

1. access to ISL Conference Proxy admin user on your installation
2. access to ISL Light Web Console account (email address of registered user and password) where you have licenses

Quick Instructions

1. log into the ISL Light Web Console www.isllight.com/console
2. create a new packet for the ISL Light 3.0.4, and download it
3. open the ISL Conference Proxy Web Administration (http://localhost:7615/conf/ if installed on the currently used computer)
4. login into ISL Conference Proxy Web Administration
5. click on updates and install all plugins

Description

Administrative mode of desktop sharing enables suppot for streaming MS Windows Vista UAC secure desktop, lock screen and screen saver on Windows XP and Windows Vista. When desktop sharing is switched to administrative mode CTRL-ALT-DEL key combination can be sent. To enable administrative mode local or remote user need to know administrator's username and password or if ISL Light is started under Windows user with administrtive privileges.

Description

ISL Desktop Sharing plugin now support local keyboard interpretation. This means that the character typed into ISL View window is interpreted on local side depending on the selected keyboard layout selected in MS Windows. Remote side shows the correct character which was typed on viewing side.

Description

Description

In some cases Windows Drag&Drop functionality does not work - Windows Vista when ISL Light Client or ISL Light Desk program is elevated or in case ISL Light Client or ISL Light Desk runs under system account. We introduced new dialog when requesting file transfer on ISL Light Desk side which allows you to show select file dialog on ISL Light Desk or ISL Light Client side. With this you can transfer files even if Drag&Drop does not work.

Description

ISL Light Client and ISL Light Desk had problems in case connecting in network with Websense firewall. The connectivity procedure was adjusted so ISL Light is compatible with WebSense firewall.

Description

When ISL Light Client or ISL Light Desk is started the program extracts the depending files into %APPDATA%\ISL Light Client 3 or %APPDATA%\ISL Light Client 3 temporary folder. If it is started under system account the %APPDATA% is set to windows folder system32. So ISL Light checks if the folder to extract is in system32 then it extracts itself into %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\ISL Light Client 3 folder instead.

Description

Top-bar window shows current status of desktop sharing on side which is streaming desktop. In case desktop size (resolution) changed ISL Desktop Sharing plugin recalculates the new position for top-bar window.

Description

Desktop sharing plugin now pauses stream when streaming is not possible instead of killing stream. This can be seen when fast user switch is used to switch into another user or in case administrative mode is not enabled and UAC/lock screen is shown.

Defect fixes

57091: Defect fix: CTRL or ALT locking problem when sending sequence with these keys More

Description:

When using CTRL or ALT keys on remote computer they could get locked. The problem was when remote user pressed the CTRL or ALT and hold it while local user moved mouse and took control. In this case local or remote user needed to press the CTRL or ALT key again to release the lock.

Procedure:

1. Start ISL Light Desk and ISL Light Client
2. connect them, request view desktop and control
3. press and hold CTRL or ALT on remote side
4. move mouse to take control on local side
5. observer that CTRL or ALT key is locked

57099: ISL Light Desk and ISL Light Client main window skin corrupted More

Description:

ISL Light Client and ISL Light Desk skin could get corrupted in previous version on full screen updates - when lock screen and unlock was used or in some other cases. The problem was usually with chat text input control or enter code control on connect screen. New version reolves this problem.

Procedure:

1. start ISL Light Client 3.0.3 on Windows XP
2. lock computer
3. unlock computer
4. ISL Light Client enter code will not have border anymore

39033:  command line argument pos does not work correctly on connect and disconnect event More

Description

When command line argument pos was used to set bottom location on connect or disconnect ISL Light positioned the window so that it was outside of visible area - bottom border(--on-connect) or that it was incorrectly positioned inside above bottom border (--on-disconnect).

Procedure

1. prepare ISL Light Client 3.0.3 in c:\tmp\client.exe and ISL Light Desk 3.0.3 in c:\tmp\desk303.exe
2. run cmd - command prompt
3. enter into command prompt
    c:\tmp\desk303.exe --on-connect "main?pos=leftbottom" --on-disconnect "main?pos=leftbottom"
    c:\tmp\client303.exe --on-connect "main?pos=rightbottom" --on-disconnect "main?pos=rightbottom"
4. get code with desk and connect with client
5. first problem on connect can be observer
6. disconnect from session
7. second problem with --on-disconnect can be observer

Resolution

The defect was fixed. ISL Light Desk and ISL Light Client position itself correctly on bottom on connect and on disconnect.

38002:  change of system clock to 1 month in past crashed ISL Light Desk and ISL Light Client More

Description:

If the system clock on a computer, running ISL Light Desk, is changed to past for 1 month,  ISL Light Desk crashes withour warning.

2. connect them
3. change system time 1 month into past

38008:  command line arguments --on-connect "desktop?show&control" do not work with ISL Light Desk More

Description

If command line arguments --on-connect "desktop?show&control" were specified when starting ISL Light Desk with ISL Desktop Sharing plugin 1.0.3 the commands had no effect. Version 1.0.4 of ISL Desktop Sharing plugin fixes this problem.

Procedure

1. prepare ISL Light Client 3.0.4 in c:\tmp\client.exe and ISL Light Desk 3.0.4 in c:\tmp\desk303.exe, make sure ISL Light Desk will use plugins 1.0.3
2. run cmd - command prompt
3. enter into command prompt
    c:\tmp\desk303.exe --on-connect "desktop?show&control"
    c:\tmp\client303.exe
4. get code with ISL Light Desk and enter code into ISL Light Client, press connect
5. observer that control is not given over when ISL Light Desk shows its desktop.

3. try to drag&drop the file
4. the file transfer fails

Description:

File transfer destination address is stored into the settings although option was not selected

Procedure:

2. At destination computer select a map, different then proposed. Leave the "Save as default" option unticked.

5. The location of the last file transfer is proposed as the destination.

Description

When desktop sharing was active and zoom 1:1 was selected, switching color switched zoom to "fit to screen" while 1:1 icon remained selected.

Procedure:

1. connect using ISL Light Client and ISL Light Desk and ISL Desktop Sharing plugin 1.0.3
2. request view desktop
3. switch zoom to 1:1
4. change color depth
5. zoom is switched back to fit to screen and icon 1:1 remained selected

Description

When ISL Light Client is killed by some reason in a session with Windows Vista as a streamed desktop, desktop wallpaper is not restored.

Procedure:

1. connect using ISL Light Client and ISL Light Desk and ISL Desktop Sharing plugin 1.0.3
2. request view desktop
3. kill ISL Light Client using windows task manager
4. desktop wallpaper is not restored

Description:

If possible ISL Light Client and ISL Light Desk were run in high integrity level. In this case desktop sharing was slow.

Procedure:

1. connect using ISL Light Client 3.0.3 on MS Windows Vista under administrator's account and ISL Light Desk 3.0.3 and ISL Desktop Sharing plugin 1.0.3
2. request view desktop
3. observer that updates are slow
